IDEA-9 - which download to use for Ubuntu Linux 9.04 32bit?

The Maia EAP download site shows two downloads that could be used for Linux workstations:

  • idea-IU-92.24.tar.gz - Unix archive
  • idea-IU-92.24-jdk1.5.zip - Windows/Linux version built with JDK 1.5

I've always been using the gzipped tarball since I work exclusively on Linux with JDK 6 (Mustang). Is there any compelling reason to use the zip file?

Well, according to the description the only difference is that one is built with JDK 1.5 and I guess the other is built with JDK 1.6....

The zip file is only needed for people developing and publishing plugins.
