build 90.137 in the right direction Follow
Hi,
I've finally sat down to look at the latest Idea 9 eap, specifically build
90.137. I am much more impressed by this build, as compared to IDEA 8. One
of the things that is a pain in our back sides is the constant indexing.
I'm glad to see that it can now be relegated to a background task.
I had not switched because I was waiting for the good folks who make the
atlassian plugin work with IDEA 9 and their latest snapshot solves those
problems.
The only thing that I am unsure of, since it doesn't seem to be documented
anywhere is:
If I use IDEA 9 to test and report issues, and my team stays on IDEA 8, will
the project files get all messed up for the IDEA 8 folks or are the changes
in IDEA made in such a way that everything is interchangeable between the 2
versions?
Thanks,
Rob

Never mind. After I posted this and restarted IDEA I got the message that the project will be converted.
I'd like to suggest (I'll open an issue) that perhaps you create a new set of files we can commit to repository so that folks who want to use IDEA 9 can do it without affecting the people using IDEA 8. The way that it's configured right now, as far as I can tell, is that if I open the project (I'm using the .idea directory method) and commit, I'm going to screw up everyone still on idea 8.
