How can I stop github integration?

Hello, I shared a project on github via IntelliJ but I no longer want to do this. How can I stop IntelliJ from continuing this git integration? I have deleted the repository from git hub its self but IntelliJ still thinks its there and the VCS window pops up whenever I create a new class ect... I have looked around in IntelliJ but not found anything of any use other than the ability to push to git ect.. but nothing to remove it. I am stumped.

How can I stop this from happening? Thanks.

Since Git is a distributed version control system (DVCS), even though you deleted the GitHub repository, your local Git repository still exists. So you still have version control with that local repo.

If you want to keep the local repo and remove the remote, you can do such via git. See http://git-scm.com/docs/git-remote and http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2432764/change-the-uri-url-for-a-remote-git-repository

If you want to completely turn off version control for the project, go into File > Settings (Ctrl+Alt+S) > Version Control. With the top Version Control mode selected, you will see a listing of directories and what version control is set for them. In most cases you will only see the single listing of your project root. To the right of the directory, is the configured version control. Change that to 'None'. IntelliJ IDEA will no longer treat any of the files a being under version control.

If you want to complete delete all version control (and all its history), after turning off the version control as described above, delete the .git directory in your project.

Hello! Thanks for your response, I cannnot see anything in this version control window, it just says "Nothing to show". I know its still on because when i make a new class it asks me if I want to add it.

Thanks.

Please make a screenshot of this "Nothing to show" error. I bet you're looking to some other window, but let's check.

This is Template Project Settings, i.e. project settings which will be used as default for each new project.
Obviously, Version Control roots can't be shared between projects, that's why there is nothing to show.

To access Settings for the current project, go to IDEA | Preferences (Cmd+,)
