Poor fonts on Mac

Hello, I am a long time IntelliJ customer, but a new Mac user

I was disappointed with the appearance of IntelliJ on my Mac Powerbook.  The default font was fuzzy and chunky.  Unfortunately, all of the other font choices seemed equally bad.

What is going on?  The Mac has fine graphics and great fonts.  IntelliJ looks great on my Linux and Windows environments.

I can't be the first to notice this.  Is there some option I need to know about?

Thanks
Peter

Have you insured anti-aliased fonts are turned on? I can't remember if they are on by default or not (Settings->Editor->Appearance).

The attached image shows my font settings I use on my mac (these are under Settings->Appearance). These are in addition to turning on anti-alias fonts. I am pretty happy with the way my fonts look.

Yep, that did it.

Thank you very much

P.S.  For those IntelliJ developers out there, make this the default on the Mac product!

What font do you or others use inside the Editor itself that looks best on Macs? I'm talking about Settings>Editor>Color&Fonts>Font while the setting you were pointing to was not your editor's font setting.

Thanks,
Jon

For that I use Monospaced, Size 11.

I am unsure if that is the default or not. I have dragging around the same settings.jar for quite some time so I just import that so I can't always remember what is default and what isn't.

Courier New, Monaco, and Monotype Sorts all looked pretty good to me, but I ended up with Monospaced 14.
