Drag n Drop to Explorer

The one thing that eclipse does that IDEA doesn't, is provide support to drag and drop from the Project Explorer to Windows Explorer (or whatever the native file browser is)
The closest I can get is to install the Native Neighbourhood plugin, open the file in IDEA then click the NN button that opens the file in Explorer

I don't quite understand what you mean. Do you want to copy/move the files
from your project content to a directory outside of the project content by
dragging them to Explorer? Or do you simply want to focus the selected file
in Explorer so that you would be able to perform native OS actions on it?

Thats right. I sometimes want to copy a file to a network directory for example.

Thats what the Native Neighbourhood plugin does, although I would vote for this plugin to be integrated by default....

Please file a JIRA issue requesting this functionality.

In IDEA 8.1, try Ctrl-clicking an editor tab.

- It does not select the file itself. The Windows Explorer opens, and the correct folder is opened, but the file isn't selected.
- Also it frequently takes two clicks on the file to open it. The first click on the file name in the popup is simply ignored.
- Trying to go to a source file in a jar (e.g. junit-4.5-src.jar attached as source to a library) throws an exception.
- Go to the jar itself opens the jar (with 7zip on my machine) instead of selecting it in the explorer.
- IMHO the feature should also be available in the alt-f1 popup

(IDEA is running on 32-bit jdk 1.6.0_11 on Windows Vista 64 bit)

JIRA issues please? Particularly the last one should make the feature a lot
more discoverable.

Common issue with popups of this type. The same problem is with Run configurations
dropdown list.

Alexander.
