More JDBC Console Improvements

  • There is no horizontal scroll bar on the input file meaning it is hard to read long queries. If there is no scrollbar, what about word wrap?
  • Although Ctrl-Alt-L does bring up the Reformat Code box, nothing actually gets reformatted as one would expect (see DBVisualizer/SquirrelSQL)
  • When you right click on the Input file you don't get a context menu. At the very least I would expect Cut/Copy/Paste.
  • No context menu on the results either
  • Only way to export the results to a csv file is Ctrl-C or the copy button on the left. However, this doesn't copy the headers.
  • Copy Query is nice, but it would be good to be able to just see it with the results tab.
  • The only way to see the number of results is to scroll to the bottom of the results
  • There doesn't seem to be any option to re-run the query in a results tab
  • There is nothing to tell you in the results tab that you have returned all the results or just the maximum specified in the settings. e.g. in SquirrelSQL it is highlighted in red that you have reached the settings limit and there are more results that are not displayed.
  • The following way of using Dates in a where clause executes fine but is highlighted with a red squiggle as an error
    • value_date = {d '2009-01-29'}

Just noticed that the help icon in the JDBC console brings up the Run Tool Window help instead of the JDBC Console Help.
Also the JDBC Console Help says:
Copy Content Put all content of the Inptu tab to the clipboard.

Hi.

Have you tried "Open in editor" action on JDBC console toolbar? It opens the Input tab in the main editor panel, and its content is synchronized with the Input tab in the console. Regular editor has horizontal scrollbar and context menu, for example. (I don't want to say that everything is perfect with JDBC console, just suggesting an alternative.)

> Although Ctrl-Alt-L does bring up the Reformat Code box, nothing actually gets reformatted as one would expect (see DBVisualizer/SquirrelSQL)
Works for me in 9692.

Agree, for me it is connected with Next Page action status: http://www.jetbrains.net/jira/browse/IDEADEV-29017
