IDEA application focus on OS-X 10.5.5 :-)

I just noticed that IDEA 8.0.1 handles application focus correctly under OS-X 10.5.5 (CMD-Tab / Spaces), wow :-)

Since when is that?

False alarm - I just switched back to Java 1.5 because under 1.6 IDEA is a memory hog, and even with 1GB assigned I could not work (Flex code inspection slows editor down to a crawl). So the Java application focus problem has been fixed by Apple with Java 1.6.

Well - almost. I, too, was pleasantly surprised to see the Spaces feature working so nicely with IntelliJ now. But I just discovered that if another window is open, like the diff window, or any of IntelliJ's warning or information dialogs, it no longer works, so it's only 1/2 fixed.

Edit: just realized I'm still running IntelliJ in JDK 1.5. I'll have to give 1.6 a go and report back.

Ok - it seems that the JDK version has nothing to do with it. If I open IntelliJ in a different space, the first time you switch to another application and then try to switch back by either clicking the IntelliJ icon in the dock or using cmd-tab, the current space will not change. If you then manually switch to the space (ctrl+# of the space), the proper space is then selected the next time you try to switch back from an application running in a different space. This also applies to the window issue I mentioned earlier: if, for example, the diff window is open, then when you try to switch back to IntelliJ, the proper space is not selected until you first manually switch to that space and then back.

So, it's 1/2 fixed.

(ps - I can't stand this new forum software. The spell checker seems to be caught in some kind of loop)
