Intellij IDEA 13.1 crashes frequently

Hi

I am using 13.1, build# 135.480 on mac os X 10.9.2.
It keeps crashing frequently/randomly...

Any known issues?

Anand,

I have build 135.555 on OS X 10.8.5 and have no issues with it crashing.

Where I can download build 135.555? The download site only shows 135.480.

That is an EAP release. You can either download it from the IntelliJ IDEA 13.1 EAP site:

http://confluence.jetbrains.com/display/IDEADEV/IDEA+13.1+EAP

Or you can change your update settings in IntelliJ:

  1. Open your Preferences in IntelliJ (Settings in Windows).
  2. Go to Updates under IDE Settings.
  3. Change the value of the Check for updates in channel... drop-down to Early Access Program.
  4. Click Check Now.

That said, the EAP is more likely to have bugs and crash than the release version. I can't guarantee that that will fix your problem! I've run all the standard release versions since 13.0 was released and not had a problem with it crashing on any of them.

Still, it's probably worth a try.

The other difference between our set-ups is 10.8 vs 10.9 (I can't upgrade to Mavericks due to compatibility issues with music production software), so that could also be a factor.

I upgraded to build 135.667. Haven't seen the crash so far. Hopefuly, this fixes the issue.

The crash happened again with build 135.667. Is there anyway to debug this?

One more thing... Just noticed that it happens when doing a gradle refresh dependencies.
My application is a gradle/grails application.

Thanks. For me the crashes ususally happens when intellij starts and tries to refresh the dependenies. Sometimes it happens when I refresh dependencies from the gradle tool window. The remote debug session is not attached.
Next time I see the crash, I will look at the log to see if it is the same issue as as reported in IDEA-122691.
