IntelliJ IDEA launch configurations/profiles

I haven't found anyone else asking for this so it either might not matter to most, or is already a feature.  To be fair I am not exactly sure what to look for when searching for this request.

Is it possible to create different configurations or profiles for launching IntelliJIDEA?  I guess examples would be if I needed to work on a web project I could save a load configuration that would only startup web plugins.  Then if I was working on a python project it would load only the python specific plugins.  I guess it would be like starting up Webstorm for one project and then Pycharm for another, except in IntelliJIDEA.

I know it is possible to uninstall plugins and all of that, but I tend to work on different projects throughout the day that require different toolsets, though, not all of the plugins need to be enabled at all times in IntelliJ.

Is this possible?  Is it a pipedream?

FWIW, I am really happy with IntelliJIDEA, but would love to see performance gains anywhere possible.

Best Regards,
Kevin

Hello.

Yes, it's possible to use different application configs, please see: https://intellij-support.jetbrains.com/entries/23348963

Just notice: when starting IDEA executable checks is it running and does not create second instance. That's why you need 2 IDEA builds (or 2 build copies) on disk. Make sure the idea.properties files of two builds point to different locations, and you've done.

Alexander.
