Android plugin..

How do I get the Android plugin working? I tried 8.0M1 and I can see and install the plugin but after installing the plugin intellij startup and project opening runs into several errors. The stack trace is attached.

I tried to follow the instructions on this page http://code.google.com/p/idea-android/wiki/GettingStarted but when I am using my old 7.0 version - I cannot find the plugin in available plugins.

I am sure I am missing something. Just don't know how to fix it.

thanks
vinay

It was created for earlier android sdks and earlier idea version (7). I've actually even filed a bug report so that at least idea 8 can start after installing this plugin. No idea if jetbrains would invest in supporting this one, at least in the near-term perspective (but hey, motorola don't hire 300 android developers out of blue). hint, hint ;)

Hello Andrew,

We do want to invest more in Android support, but at the moment we simply
do not have the resources for that.

Thanks Dmitry.

I saw that the original plugin was created possibly as an individual spike by 2 jetbrainers, so didn't set my expectations high. Now that the interest is confirmed, I just hope that once you guys get your hands on it, it will be the (glory) story of Groovy/Grails plugin, which caught up and took the lead :)

Good luck!

Would love to see an actively developed android plug-in . Definitely don't want to have to use eclipse for it!
