Step-By-Step Video Tutorials for IntelliJ Idea?

I'm a newbie to app development. I found out about IntelliJ Idea through a blog post. I hear that its better than almost all IDEs.

My question is - Are there Step-By-Step Video Tutorials on how to begin, how to use it, what functions will do what, etc?

Because I have complete video tutorials on how to begin, etc. for Eclipse. (this is important because I'm a beginner.)

I searched on the IntelliJ Idea YouTube channel but there isn't much on their channel. Also the tv.jetbrains.net has channels but the IntelliJ Idea channel under it has tutorials which are placed in a random manner.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I don't known any other big tv channels other than http://www.youtube.com/user/JetBrainsTV/playlists and http://tv.jetbrains.net/channel/intellij-idea .

But I also advise you check different help topics and tutorials. If there is some question about some setting or functionality you are welcome to check it in our web help reference http://www.jetbrains.com/idea/webhelp/getting-help.html . For example one could start with quick review of basic concepts http://www.jetbrains.com/idea/webhelp/basic-concepts.html . Our blog has great numbers of articles for different technologies supported in IDEA, for example check the 30 days guide series http://blog.jetbrains.com/idea/tag/30-days-guide/ This quide will help for quick start and will teach you to use IDE effectively.

There are more tutorials at http://wiki.jetbrains.net/intellij/ and http://confluence.jetbrains.com/display/IntelliJIDEA/Getting+Started , just choose your subject.

Oh, that is bad news. Textual documentation is fine, but video tuts help in learning quickly.

Thanks for all the links. But I'll have to rethink my decision to use IntelliJ Idea.

Are you from the IntelliJ staff? ...I also wanted to know what do they mean by '24/7 Support' listed under the features of the Ultimate Edition.

If you want to develop smart and effectively it is necessary to learn the tool you are using. The guides and the documentation are quite good for it as you can always look something up, but sometimes is hard to do so with video. We also try to keep our video tutorials up to date and widen with new ones. In fact there are plans to create tutorial video course for the beginners. It will be available on YouTube channel.

I'm a JetBrains support engineer. 27.7 means that you can write to support here https://intellij-support.jetbrains.com/anonymous_requests/new and get response even on holidays or weekends. Urgent issue are handled almost immediately.

Thanks for the reply Andrey.

And just one last question. I'm going to begin with studying the background of Java, learn some basics and then start coding in IntelliJ Idea. Is that the correct way to proceed? I'm going to develop a fitness app. And how much time does it take to create an android app? (I know your answer would be - depends on a lot of things. But, I just want to know, how much time in general - say for developing a WhatsApp, Intstagram or a Twitter.)

Would love to see the tutorials soon!

Again, thanks a lot for your replies!

In this case I recommend you to check Android for the Busy Developer 12-Lesson Course http://blog.jetbrains.com/idea/2013/09/android-for-the-busy-developer-free-12-lesson-course/ . Of course it make sense to get some general Java experience first. Sorry, I really can not foretell any time limits and ETAs here. I would start with some simple examples and good technical books on specific subjects.
