IDEA 13 - Split Navigation Bar and Toolbar.

Hey,

I gave IDEA 13 a test drive. I noticed that the navigation bar (where is shows in which package/folder the current file is located - blue in the screenshot) and the toolbar (green in the screenshot) is now a single row. I guess this may be good on a laptop with limit screen space - on my desktop monitor in portrait orientation its not necessary and rather bad then helping.

Unfortunately I'm to stupid to find an option where I can split the bars again and make them look like in version previous to IDEA 13.

Can someone give me a hint?

Regards,
Stefan

Unique 'Search Everywhere' feature of IntelliJ IDEA 13 will help you. Press double Shift and type 'Toolbar' in the search field. It will show you that the option to enable old-style toolbar is under main menu item View.

Problem is, you do not know that the toolbar is disabled, since there are those familiar buttons. I had a problem with that myself.
There should be some welcome message which tells you that, same way there is a balloon popup for the compact view (or something like that).

Damn, soooo easy. Now I feel even dumber ;-)

Thanks for the quick help!

I personally was more confused by the fact that you don't find an option if you search in the settings dialog for "toolbar".

Search in Settings dialog searches only within options available in the dialog, obviously.
Help | Find Action shows results both from Settings and also from main menu and also all other available actions (context menu, tool window tool bars, etc.)
Search everywhere combines Settings, 'Find Action', 'Recent files', 'Go to class', 'Go to file', 'Go to Symbol' and some other stuff.

Well, I was just expecting the settings to change the behavior of the main toolbar in the settings dialog. However, now that I'm aware of the "Search everywhere dialog" I like the idea. :-) We will see how it works out for me over time...
