".IntelliJIdea80/system/caches/attrib.dat.data" - 345 megabytes ?!

8280, WinXP SP2, Java 6 (u10 beta)

Just noticed ".IntelliJIdea80/system/caches/attrib.dat.data" file is 345 megs big (after cleaning up ".IntelliJIdea80/system" and opening the project again)
Does it need to be that way ? The whole ".IntelliJIdea80/system" folder is now taking ~ 500 megabytes.

Since IDEA keeps an ".IntelliJIdea80" folder in the home directory - this happen to be a C:/ drive on Windows and my C:/ drive had only 750 megs free.
Now only ~200 are left :(

Size of the file is adequate and depends on used projects / libraries
(e.g. on my machine the file have 1,4G). You probably need
idea.system.path property in idea.properties file

Thanks ! The idea about redirecting the "system" folder someplace else have crossed my mind but I was too dumb and tired to pursue it .. :)

It can make quite a difference in performance - we have a mandatory McAfee virus checker that does performance-sapping on-access checking, but we can exclude a single development directory from this - this is where we put IDEA and all Java libraries. I always edit idea.properties to replace 'user.home' with 'idea.home', which ensures that the caches and stuff don't suffer on-access virus checking.
