# 8280 Reload Shelf

Following the crash and burn of my original #8280 install (see http://www.intellij.net/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=274758&tstart=0), I renistalled into a new directory and imported my options from the dead one. This is now running OK, but I can't see the shelf of deferred changes I had saved in the previous version. The options import appears to have copied the patch file to the shelf directory in the config, but I don't see the Shelf tab in the Changes panel, so I can't unshelve those changes.

How do I load the shelf file into the GUI to make it usable?

Hello Dave,

Following the crash and burn of my original #8280 install (see
http://www.intellij.net/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=274758&tstart=0),
I renistalled into a new directory and imported my options from the
dead one. This is now running OK, but I can't see the shelf of
deferred changes I had saved in the previous version. The options
import appears to have copied the patch file to the shelf directory in
the config, but I don't see the Shelf tab in the Changes panel, so I
can't unshelve those changes.

How do I load the shelf file into the GUI to make it usable?

The list of shelved changes is stored in the .iws file.

OK, thanks Dmitry - I looked there, but there was no trace of shelf entries. Suppose I was to create a 'dummy' entry (by shelving a trivial change to an unimportant file) and then replace the dummy filename and description with the real shelf filename and description - would that work ?

I just answered my own question - using a 'dummy' placeholder does seem to work - I've got my shelved changes back :)

Thanks again, Dmitry
