Diana EAP LIVE!

Good job everyone! I'm excited to give it a try!

One question -- are the project files backward compatible with IntelliJ
7.0.3 files? I'd love to use this on an existing shared IPR.

Thanks!

This should be OK - we didn't make any major changes to the .ipr structure.

One question -- ...

Another question:
I see FreeMarker support.
What's with Velocity Support? It was promissed since ages (even for previous version of IntelliJ).

Thanks in advance,

Ahmed.

We plan to implement it later in Diana.

Thank you very much,

I hope it won't be overlooked like in the last 2 or 3 major IntelliJ Releases :).
AFAIK the syntax of Velocity is much simpler and at a great degree it looks like
a subset of FM.

Ahmed.

Is there a road map somewhere?

But for me 8243 on Fedora and Java 6 insisted on not seeing an *.ipr file created with 7.0.3 release - I had to re-create the project and answer "Yes" when IDEA asked to overwrite the files.

Hi,

I'd like to see some nice features added in the final:
1) moving of files from one directory to another should be easier, if you drag and drop now a file to a place not shown in the screen, you have to wait for the IDE to scroll the window, this takes long, better an option in the context menu says, 'move to...', then shows a window for us to select the directory, i remember 'outlook express' has something similar to this to move email to a folder without drag and drop.

2) searching related files, very often we have to navigate between some similar files, say: Home.java, Home.tml, Home.js, if we can have a context menu option to search files based on the file's base name, then we can easily move around.

3) Tapestry 5's support.

Tapestry support? I thought / read that Tapestry is dead. I personally would be more interested in Wicket support (maybe extend the wicket plugin?) than in Tapestry...

+1 for Wicket support

Have you tried pressing F6 (Refactor | Move)?

3) Tapestry 5's support.

We don't currently have any plans to support Tapestry internally, but as
far as I know there are third-party plugins for that.

dead? lol, don't know where you get your news from ;)
And after all, that's an Idea forum, so, respect that.

Fascinating!

Someone who has posted a grand total of four times over the nearly 5 1/2 years since he registered weighs in for this.

No judgement (really!), but it is interesting what coaxes people out of the shadows.

Haha, that is fascinating. But Andreas, sorry if I set you off somehow. This was certainly not a rant; I really had the impression that Tapestry was dead. This was more or less based on a presentation by Matt Raible. You can view the presentation here:
http://static.raibledesigns.com/repository/presentations/ ComparingJVMWebFrameworks-ApacheConUS2007.pdf , and especially page 17.I also thought that the creators of Tapestry said something like : "if we have to do it again, it certainly won't be in Java", but I cannot find the resources to back it up. Things like that make Tapestry a dead framework to me, but if I'm misinformed, please let me know! Most of my pleasures come from other things than bashing tools, languages and frameworks, so if Tapestry is really the way to go, let me know!

Tapestry isn't dead, but seems to have been a little fragmented. From what I understand T3 was incompatible with T4, T4 was incompatible with T4.1 & T4 was incompatible with T5. On the other hand, the last I heard was that HLS didn't expect there to need to be a T6. T4 is the current active/production version while T5 is the beta version, recommended for new developments.
