Fabrique replacement? Follow
Does somebody knows a replacement for the died Fabrique? I want to create a
Java-based database applications and the ability to create a simple web
front-end (although a client-application would be cool, too).

AFAIK WebObjects is the only one that is really useful(not just a toy like
many other products).
Ahmed.
Thanks. What other products (aka "toys") you know?
Tom
IBM RRD - now dead too.
http://jag.sourceforge.net/ - rather simplistic and does not compete with commercial versions.
http://www.andromda.org/ - pretty complicated and no near as productive as praised :).

Several Eclipse based "Rapid" plug-ins (there are more in various
stages of abandonware listed on eclpseplugincentral)
There are of course more, but none of the above comes near to Fabrique (to WebObjects even less).
Ahmed.
P.S. IMHO Jetbrains could revive Fabrique cause there's still no real concurrence to this moment
(WebObjects as a tool was updated only for OSX in the last years).
IMHO Fabrique was a great idea until the moment they made an IntelliJ plug-in out of it: the target
audience should have been clearly kept separated from the IntelliJ one.
(Also I remember when Fabrique was made a plug-in, it delayed the release with one year, introduced
many many bugs, and it was suddenly even more slower).
Thank you for the information. After taking a first look at their websites
(yes, that's not a full evaluation), it looks like no tool seems to be a
real replacement for Fabrique.
Although I can't really compare, but Fabriques first EAP versions a few
years ago were already VERY promising and killing it gave me hope about
other competing applications I have not found so far. Just like MPS which
seem to have died more silently than Fabrique.
Hello Tom,
MPS? Died? Not at all.

This is entirely built with MPS.

Cool, then you must have a serious MPS-marketing problem. :p
Tom
It looks simply impressive.
I hope you won't hide it from the world and let the people hand you some cash for it :) ?
Ahmed.
P.S. I'm still missing Fabrique :).
God, it is very impressive, and I think your guys should let the world know your art. UI is based on Ext?
Hello linux_china,
Yes.

I have a dream :) IDEA is the best ExtJS editor in all IDE, code completion for Config Options, Public Events, Class Extension, more smart for Ext and so on, UI preview and other things. Please take a look at http://extjs.com/blog/2008/02/01/ides-plugins-and-tools-for-ext-js-20/
