Opening pom.xml - "target/classes" marked as "excluded", wny not "target" ?

When IDEA opens pom.xml and creates .ipr/.iml files - it currently marks "target/classes" as excluded. Shouldn't it be the "target" folder to be excluded ?

Ok, we can exclude target directory too, but won't it become a problem? I mean are there any cases when one would want to work with files located into target directory (for example resources of generated sources)?

There are cases when it indeed happens: in our project we had to work with .java source files generated into the "target" folder. But it seems to me those cases are exclusion rather than a rule so excluding "target" by default probably has a chance to satisfy a majority of people and dissatisfy a minority. If not that - it's possible to make it configurable in "Default Maven settings" so that people won't have to reconfigure the exclusions after opening pom.xml and re-creating .ipr/.iml files

Ok, thanks for clarification.
It probably will be fixed after Selena release.

I'm afraid we won't exclude "target" directory due to some issues with that.
