IntelliJ IDEA 7.0 has been released

Hello everyone,

We are happy to announce that we have just released the final version of
IntelliJ IDEA 7.0. As always, this release wouldn't be possible without all
the help and feedback that we've received from the members of our community
and the EAP program. We express our most sincere thanks to everyone who has
participated in the exciting journey to this version - and we'll hope that
you'll go along with us further. :)

This time we have some special treats for some of the most active EAP members
- so, please, hold off buying your personal license upgrades for a couple
of days. :)

You know - I think this is the first release where no EAPers have had to
go on a cookie strike demanding EAP builds...

w00t - no starving developers :)

Will 7.0 / #7361 run without a updated license key?

Hello Randall,

Will 7.0 / #7361 run without a updated license key?

For 30 days, yes. (Note that 7.0 will start a new 30 day evaluation period,
but future bugfix updates will not reset the 30 day counter.)

Congratulation, JetBrains! Each version of IDEA is released, you give me more and more pleasure to develop.

But I have a bit of concern. How can you gain your benefit for next version if all of us, your customers, become the most active EAP members? - Just kidding, LOL

Well done to all at JetBrains for a great achievement!

...and I can't wait to see what you guys have up your sleeves for the
next version!

Cheers,
N.

Agreed on all accounts. I think given how much 7 brings to the table and how much has been added since IDEA 6, it should be name IDEA 8 ;)

Congrats again to everyone at JetBrains.

Congrats! I don't really remember 6.0, but I know I couldn't go back after starting with the EAP's for 7. ;)

When to expect 7.0.1? Yesterday I've got so much error popups with the
latest version that I could not believe you would release it in beta state.

With which exactly build, and why didn't we see the reports from you in the
exception reporter? A major problem which could cause a lot of exceptions
to appear was fixed very recently (between RC5 and RC6 if I remember correctly).

Congrats for the new release :).

You really deserve a nice and big vacation for all the hard work, and
of course, to gather energy for next releases :), (cause the users want
many good releases in the next years too :) ).

Congratulations on the hard work I'll download it right away! I'm very curious what happened to the search bar.... ;) (just kidding).

Well, good luck, and maybe I'll see you tomorrow at the Grails Exchange! Got a plane to catch, bye bye!

I'm using 7348 which IMHO was the latest version before the 7.0.

I don't know why, I've told IDEA to send them.

OK then, could you please send your idea.log to me by e-mail so that we could
see what exceptions were there?

Congratulations on the release!

The list of operating systems on
http://www.jetbrains.com/idea/download/index.html seems to indicate that
Vista is not supported. I assume that this is an oversight?

Maybe you could also try the release build?

I've did not tried it yet, because - IIRC - previous releases just disabled
the error popup.

7.0 does that too, but you can re-enable the error popup by editing idea.properties.

Congratulations, guys! Selena is one of the best releases so far, both feature and quality wise. You've really outdone yourselves this time.

Congratulations ! Many-many thanks for the hard work and accepting all our reports and feedbacks. You guys rock, as always and that's why we all love you so much.

Just to note that http://www.jetbrains.com/idea/download/index.html displays 6.0.6 version right now while the link actually takes to http://download.jetbrains.com/idea/idea-7.0.exe

Congratulations! I honestly think this is the most exciting release since 3.0. I have no idea what you would have to do to top it for 8.0.

Congratulations, IDEA7 is a major step forward again (not that I'm running out of ideas for IDEA8 :))

Congratulations folks! Great job!

Just a quick comment. The website download page says Idea version 6.0.6, and I think it should say 7.0 (http://www.jetbrains.com/idea/download/index.html).

With kind regards,
Gustavo Faerman
