Still no luck with weblogic 10

From time to time I try to have the weblogic 10 integration working in Idea, but I really can't get it to work. Today I tried creating a whole new domain, pointed Idea config to that domain, and tried to start the server and deploy an application.

Result: when trying to start the server in debugging mode I get this on the log:

After that, I see that Idea keeps trying to connect to localhost:7001 (even though I set a different address as starting page!), even if of course the server process is down and the debugging session is stopped.

On the contrary, trying to run the server in normal mode results in server starting (in debug mode!! Note the dt_socket part after some lines), but no module deployed:

The module I wanted to install has a small plug icon besides it in the "web facets" node of the "console" tree, with a tooltip saying "server is not connected, press 'deploy' to start deployment". Pressing "deploy" has no effect.

Has anyone been successful with weblogic from Idea??

Ok, it seems that the newly created domain automatically starts in debug mode, and one has to call it with the "nodebug" flag in order to run it in normal mode. I changed the way idea calls it, adding the parameter and now it also starts in debug mode.

No autodeployment, though (and a colleague of mine just told me he tried for two days without success to deploy an app to weblogic 10 from idea...). I assume weblogic 10 does not interest much.

By the way, the features page for application server states "IntelliJ IDEA tightly integrates with the wide variety of popular Web application servers for seamless and efficient debugging and deployment of your Web applications".

I wouldn't exactly call "tight integration" one that involves launching a .cmd file, and that does not even know how it's done (so realizing that there are explicit flags it needs in order to set a debugging port, activate or deactivate the debugger and so on): on the contrary, I find this a very poor and loose integration.

Not to mention that the efficient deployment does not work on any one of our apps, here, no matter how hard we try.

I can't help you with WL10, but I'm curious to know what kind of problems
you experience with the Spring integration (mentioned on TSS thread). With
luck I can provide a patch.

Cheers,
