Intellij stuck indexing when open/create projects

Hi guys,

I've just done an update to 12.1.4 today and I can't open or create maven projects (I'm on a OSX 10.8.4). It always gets stuck in indexing using 100% of CPU.

I've tried manually deleting caches and preferences from the file system, but it doesnt to resolve the problem.

I've attached stack trace and logs.

Cheers,

Imran

Hi Imran,

I don't see anything suspicious at the attached files. Please try to execute 'main menu | file | invalidate caches'. Provide a cpu snapshot if that doesn't help.

Hi Denis,

Thanks for your response.

I've gone through the link you sent and I don't think its any of the common problems outlined.

I've gone through the steps outlined for capturing a cpu snapshot. Unfortunately because the problem is happening before I even open a project, none of the menu options are available (please see attached screenshot).

I downloaded version 11.1.5 and the problem does not occur. I was also able to view the memory and cpu snapshots menu items.

Is there a location where I can get the previous release version of 12?

Cheers,

Imran

Hi Imran,

You can try to use standalone yourkit client then (it provides free probation period) and use java attach api for communicating with running process.

All IJ versions are listed here - http://devnet.jetbrains.com/docs/DOC-1228

Hey,

So I've managed to get a cpu snapshot and attached it.

At the moment it is now crashing horribly once I start trying to open a project. I've also attached the error message presented by my OS on crashing.

Cheers,

Imran

Hi Imran,

Please try to do the following and check if that helps:

  • disable 'IDEtalk' plugin;
  • disable 'spring webflow' plugin;

The problem's cause is not clear at the moment and I want to narrow it down.
