Hello opticyclic,

I am used to having "Close Left Tabs" and "Close Right Tabs" in my
browsers and it would be nice to have it in the editor too.

This issue seems to be asking for this and it is marked as fixed, but
I can't see any options for this in the editor.

http://www.jetbrains.net/jira/browse/RSRP-1979

This issue is from the ReSharper project, not IntelliJ IDEA, and it's asking
for "Close all tabs but this", which is available in IntelliJ IDEA. As for
adding "Close left tabs" and "Close right tabs", I think that adding these
actions would clutter the popup menu while being useful for very few people.

Well spotted! I must have not filtered my search properly.
Anyway, he does mention it

  1. Close All on the Left

  2. Close All on the Right

If you think it would clutter the popup menu, it could be put in the settings instead.
The option to change what is in the context menus (and the toolbars for that matter) a la MSOffice would be very useful.

Hello opticyclic,

The option to change what is in the context menus (and the toolbars
for that matter) a la MSOffice would be very useful.

There is such an option (Settings | Customize). However, if we do provide
these items and do not include them in the default menu, nearly no one will
find and use them.

Maybe if you added a context menu to the toolbar then people might find them.
If you make the customisations easier then people will use it more then they will find other options.
People like a customised workspace.
