VCS: Configure Ignored Files - Mask option

I cannot find any info on how to specify the Mask to ignore an OS-specific file in my CVS updates.
My attempts so far have not worked.
Is there any documentation available?

Specifically, I'm trying to ignore the .DS_Store files that get sprinkled around by MacOS X, and not get any messages about these files not being in CVS.

The "Mask" field is specified as a regular DOS-style filename mask.

Note that the contents of "Check project status" and "Update project status"
views doesn't currently depend on the setting of ignored files in the Changes
view. See IDEADEV-14757 for a related request.
