Problem adding Team Foundation Server source

Good morning;

I am trying to connect IntelliJ IDEA 10.5 to a Team Foundation 2010 server located at 'http://professor-oak:8080/tfs' using system credentials. When I try this, I get the error:

com.ctc.wstx.exc.WstxUnexpectedCharException: Unexpected character "" (code 34) in DOCTYPE declaration; expected a space between public and system identifiers at [row,col {unknown-source}]: [1,50].

Is this error a result of a poorly setup TFS, or are there some magic steps someone can give me to make this all work?

Thanks for your time.

Hello Cameron,

It's hard to say right now. Can you try to connect to your server with Visual Studio?

Please provide TFS log:
1. Open the folder where you have IDEA installed
2. Back up 'bin/log.xml' file then open it with text editor
3. Scroll to the bottom, add the following part before <root> tag:

  <logger name="httpclient.wire">
    <level value="debug"/>
  </logger>

4. Restart IDEA
6. Try to connect
7. Help -> Reveal log in Explorer/Finder will show you the log file.

Thanks,
Kirill

Hi Kirill;

Our sys-admin had a look and found a configuration problem on the server. Once fixed, everything works beautifully.

Thank you for your reply.

Cameron.

Did the sys-admin provide what the configuration issue was?  We are having the exact same issue.

Thanks,

Michael
