Profiling startup performance 5692

I tried following the steps in an earlier post (add
-agentlib:yjpagent=cpu=times to the vmoptions) and while this turns on
the profiler agent, it doesn't turn on profiling. I timed startup and
it takes ~50 seconds. It would be nice if this could be improved upon a
bit.

Twice today, while working on my project (it has ~7000 files) I ran into
a situation where IDEA froze for several minutes and I ended up killing
it. Much as a I hate it, I keep having to switch back to Eclipse when
IDEA does that. Anyone have any suggestions on how I could determine
the sequence of steps to reproduce the perf issue (once the issue's
happend I can't click the profile button, but I don't know what causes
it to happen).

You could try to turn off redundant cast inspection, it is broken in last build.

Thanks!

How would I do that?

Well, just search for "redundant cast" string in settings, and it will be found somewhere under "Errors":)
