CVS offline mode

can you please add some way to turn CVS offline
when disconnected from the network?
(it always asks me if I want to "add to CVS",
then I have to wait until the network timeout occurs :(

Am I the only one who works at home partly? ;)

Nice weekend,
M.

I asked for such a thing some time ago. It's in the tracker somewhere. I
would love to have this.

I have the same problem with Perforce. I notice that the latest EAP has the CVS fix. Can we also get a fix for Perforce?

For Perforce there is already a checkbox "Perforce is active" which you can
turn off when you are offline. You are also suggested to deactivate Perforce
if the server is not responding for some time.

Build 5661 is so close to fixing this problem.
The ability to set "Offline" mode is great,
But I still have to suffer the timeout waiting for the initial failure to occur
before I can toggle the offline mode.

Can you please just do all the cvs access in a background thread and not block the IDE?

You can toggle offline mode manually from the context menu, without waiting
for anything.

It's not so simple unfortunately.

I really wish that is true. But when I open a project, the whole IDE locks up waiting for the CVS time out; I don't even have to chance to click on the menu.

I have two comments about the new toggle menu.

1. Can it be placed at the top level rather than nested one menu deep? ie place it directly with "Commit Changes", "Show File Statuses", "Update Project" etc rather than under the CVS submenu? The menu commands I just listed are generic VCS operations and so too should be the Offline toggle. Plus it is easier to get to at the top level. I would even like to see this option on the IDE home page so that you can immediately use it prior to opening a project after you have started the IDE while offline.

2. The toggle doesn't seem to work correctly for me. I selected the Offline option. When I saved a file, I still got the popup informing me that CVS was not there and asking me to press "Work Offline". Why did it do this if I already told it I was offline via the toggle menu? Then, nothing I did allowed me to toggle it to work online again. Once offline is selected, it seems that you are offline forever after that.

Also, I assume that the change indicators in offline mode are still being worked on?

What has been done is a great start at solving a long standing issue for me though. Thank you.
