IDETalk showing other IDETalk users?

I have lots of people on my jabber buddy list. How do I know which ones support IDETalk?

There is no straight way so far. But, if user is online, you can
invoke popup menu on the user, and if "View open files" option is
enabled, s/he uses IDEtalk client.

Do you think we need to add a visual clue like specific icon for
users who use IDEtalk?

With kind regards,
KIR

Yes, definitely. I think you should think of use cases. We use jabber a
lot here for communication both casual and about code. We use gaim,
google talk, and Adium. IDETalk will simply be another jabber client,
however, it has a very different use case than the others. I imagine
that within IDEA I will only want to talk to people on my team working
on my codebase, and it won't be casual but instead it will be about the
code. I'm not sure what exact user experience implications this
different use case shows, but I think you should keep it in mind.

This may be dating myself, but I absolutely refuse to use IM during work hours. Too much disruption of flow. That said, I'm quite looking forward to using IDETalk for code pointers and such. Knowing who was using IDETalk would be a great advantage.

Yeah Dave, I'm the same way. I find IM to be very disruptive too.

I'll definitely use a custom status message stating that I am only available for work
related messages. If that can be automated, all the better.
