CVS -> Browse Changes

Hi,

I'm having trouble to get the CVS changes browser to work properly. It only works on a
small number of my projects but fails on the majority of them. There are no exceptions or
error messages after invoking the action and pressing the "search" button and IDEA
actually does communicate with the server, but the dialog just stays empty as it was
before pressing "search". It doesn't list any changes or changed files.

Any idea what this could be or how I could help to track that down?

Please enable cvs server output. What does it say?

Hmm, essentially it says the same for a working project and for another one that
doesn't - with a small but probably significant difference: The working
project's cvsroot is "/home/sweinreuter/cvsroot" and the cvs rlog output looks
like this:
"M RCS file: /home/sweinreuter/cvsroot/idea-plugins/xpath-lang/LICENSE,v"

while for the other (broken) project with cvsroot "/home/cvsroot" it says
"M RCS file: /export/cvsroot/project/citutil/build.xml,v"

This is because /home/cvsroot is a symbolic link to /export/cvsroot on the
filesystem of the CVS server. Because of the difference between cvsroot and the
actual path reported by cvs rlog, IDEA cannot make out what file the log refers
to. I guess I'm out of luck here :(

Thanks anyway.

Just a heads up in case anybody else might run into this as well: Updating the
CVS server from 1.11.2 to 1.11.21 solved the problem. The path for the RCS File
is now reported using the cvsroot, not the directory the symlink resolves to.
