Intellij 11 bug

I have had a problem I cannot get rid of.  IntelliJ refuses to run
programs, just debug them.  Now with IntelliJ 11 it has added another.
When running a program in debug mode it often just goes to sleep for
about 30 seconds, then wakes up on its own and finishes.

Windows 7 64 bit mode.
Full IntelliJ.

For me, the appeal of computer programming is that
even though I am quite a klutz,
I can still produce something, in a sense
perfect, because the computer gives me as many
chances as I please to get it right.

This problem has gotten even worse. Programs that used to execute in a
few seconds now take five minutes.

Yikes.  Now Ctrl-B has stopped working.  I can however still compile.

This is getting worse by the day. Now Inspection tells me to convert
variables and methods to private, then when I compile it complains
they are used by subclasses.

I have cleared this problem up by uninstalling Intellij and deleting
every configuration file I could find, including the files interleaved
with my source files.  I reinstalled and reconfigured everything by
hand rather than restoring my old config.

At some point a compare of old and new config might find the culprit,
but that is not my priority right now.

It seem very odd there could be an option in the config to make run
not work.
