We do not plan to release any new updates for IDEA 9; if JBoss 7 doesn't
work with it now, it won't work any time in the future either. It's likely
that JBoss 7 support will only be included in IDEA 11.
Now that http://www.jboss.org/as7.html is out, does anyone know when
there will be IntelliJ IDEA support for it? I am using IDEA 9.x; will
9.x have JBoss 7 support as well as 10.x?

Version 11? That's a pretty high cost for those of us that pay for this software, to simply run the next version of JBoss. I think this decision should be reconsidered. I think it should be added to 10.5.
I just got a requirement to validate our application with JBoss 7. While it would be really nice to have JBoss 7 Support in 10.X when will the EAP for 11 be available. BTW, Eclipse doesn't have JBoss 7 support yet either.
We need jboss 7 support as well. We are looking to upgrade but since 90% of our developers use Intellij we need it to support jboss7 before we can upgrade our app server. Our initial timeline to release jboss 7 to production is slated for the end of the year. Is Intellij 11 going to be out then? If not then we need it back ported to 10.5.x. JBoss 7 went GA in July of 2011.
Would it help if we got a bug filed and everyone to vote for this feature enhancement?
IntelliJ IDEA 11 will be out before the end of 2011. You can find a "semi-official" backport of JBoss 7 to IntelliJ IDEA 10.5.2 at http://youtrack.jetbrains.net/issue/IDEA-73189
