IDEA getting in my way

within my project root there is a zipfile with 10.000 java sources. I extract them to do a search in it (from outside IDEA), not wanting it as a src root.

go back to idea -> it notices the lots of new file and starts some kind of parsing. takes > 30 seconds, I wait patiently.

need to go to settings, pathes, and set the folder to excluded, do not want it to fill up my cashes etc.

need to wait again for idea to save its local history, probably pruning away the files again.

Now the dream: at the moment when I go back to IDEA and it starts "scanning" I have a possibility to press a "Stop scanning and mark the folder xyz as excluded"

... I really would appreciate such kind of improvements more than most else ;)

How about extracting the files outside of your project? IJ would not be
aware of the files and you can do what you want?

well, sure - but if you forget that and just hit the
alt-f9 in your Total Commander, while target is inside your project, than you have lost ;)

we are talking about the "most intelligent Java IDE around", "famous for its attention to detail" and not about some buggy piece of software that nobody ever had time to cleanly finish.
