Debugging JSPs deployed in a war (tomcat)

Hi there,

Is this supposed to work? I deploy my web app in a war, tomcat picks it up
nicely, I can debug regular java classes, but the breakpoints in the JSP
pages don't seem to be hit.

Any hints?

TIA,
Andrei

P.S. I'm using IDEA 3516, tomcat 5.5.9

What kind of run configuration are you using to attach to Tomcat? In order for jsp debug to work either "Tomcat Server" or "JSR45
Compatible Server" must be used.

Hello Eugene,

I'm using the Tomcat Server config (as explained in the various pieces of
documentation I managed to come across). I package things in a war because
of this problem (http://www.jetbrains.net/jira/browse/IDEA-5383). As mentioned,
the things get deployed and the application starts, and I can debug regular
java classes.

Just wanted to make sure the JSP debugging is supposed to work before I spend
more time investigating where the problem is.

Note that I've been able to remotelly connect the debugger to a tomcat instance
started externally (with the app deployed in an exploded fashion) and managed
to step thorough JSPs. It's just that I'd rather use IDEA's support in order
to speed up the process (and not having to keep Eclipse + WTP around just
for starting tomcat and deploying the app).

Thanks,
Andrei

Perhaps the problem has something to do with this one (fixed recently):

Hello Eugene,

Not sure if it's the same thing, but I'll have a look when you release a
new EAP build.

Thanks,
Andrei
