FYI - Just opened a new JIRA bug - http://www.jetbrains.net/jira/browse/IDEA-3828
Build 3417 on Windows XP SP1
There is an issue with the general settings window in the IDE Settings. As soon as I open that window, the window jumps to an extreme width, exceeding the width of my primary 1280 x 1024 monitor and going well onto my secondary display. Attempts to make the window narrower fail, as it just jumps back to the super wide size.
The issue appears to be with the "Ignore files and folders" text box. I have a long list of ignore suffixes. If I delete the list (or only leave one or two items in it), I can make the window narrow, and it keeps.
If you start with a empty or short ignore list, and then type in a long list and click "apply", the window width does not change, but the right side frames, "HTTP Proxy" and "Properties Files" disappear from the window. Then the window is closed and reopened, it jumps to the large width. This looks to be similar to the issue discussed in http://www.intellij.net/forums/thread.jsp?forum=22&thread=145577 - which was fixed in build 3386.
As an additional test, I entered an extraordinary long list of ignored files, applied, and closed the window. Upon reopening, the width exceeded my two monitors width, and moving the window over revealed the "OK", "Cancel", "apply" and "Help" buttons were missing.
