shortcut for maximize window?

Hello manuel,

is there a shortcut or mouse command to maximize a current window
(compared to eclipse double-click or Ctrl+M)?

I sometimes have to look at lengthy log-output inside the console and
currently am resizing the window back and forth by mouse which is a
bit cumbersome.

No, there's currently no feature to maximize a toolwindow.

I see this such a feature request has been around for years.

Is it difficult to implement such feature in current window-setup of intellij codebase?

I can't count the times that I saw an Eclipse user trying IDEA and get pissed off because of no maximising on double-click.

I've said it before, but this is a chance to repeat it.
IMHO the tool/source window Look and Feel could really use some renovation.
- I think NetBeans has the nicest implementation with draggable tabs.
- IDEA's tool window has a couple of icons that change appearance quite randomly (or so it seems without trial and error and carefully observing the effect of each mouse click).
- How about being able to split source editor in between multiple monitors?

i actually quite like the look&feel. compared to eclipse everything is better ordered and clear and you don't end up with these millions of views and perspectives. what i really love about IntelliJ is that you can enable automatic close on tool windows as soon as they lose focus. great to not get distracted by too much information and for working on a small laptop on trains further more you can make the tool windows float and move them where you want.

but yes the missing resize on double-click is really annoying.

i have just roughly worked with or seen netbeans, but couldn't see real advantage of window setup (it is similar).

i don't like eclipse, but i can't agree with you in this question
you can customize eclipse tool windows so that they will look/work quite similar to idea's

Any updates on that ? Has this been implemented yet ?

In addition, it seems that the "toggle maximizing editor" (C+S+F12 in idea default keymap) can't be assigned in the eclipse key map: I can't find this entry in the keymap filter. Any clue on how to get this working?

define the shortcut to the command Hide all Tool Windows
Main menu > window > Active tool window> Hide all Tool Windows
