Improving the Devkit deployment menu/action
(collecting ideas, before posting a request)
I see at least 3 problems with the current Devkit deployment UI:
1/ the action is hidden in a hard to find/easy to miss context menu.
2/ you can't specify where to copy the produced zip file
3/ there's no confirmation that the operation succeeded
Suggestion:
about 1/
Add the action to the main 'Build' menu.
about 2/
- Add a path config option.
- After triggering the action, show a dialog that let's the user change
the path
about 3/
Add an "success" message

Yes, but keep it in the context menu too (like make and compile).
Yes, the module .iml file's directory seems rather arbitrary.
As long as it has:
Don't show this dialog again.
Or maybe add a checkbox to the settings dialog:
Confirm output path when preparing to deploy
I think I'd prefer a "failure" message - other things in IDEA succeed
silently but let you know if they fail. Maybe use a "Deploy" tab in the
Messages toolwindow to show progress, hiding it if there's no error? It
could also be used to report errors deploying to the plugin sandbox?
