IDEA - best choice - reasons

Hi all, I'm using IntelliJ IDEA (v 4.5) 3 years and realy like it. I thing IDEA is better than other popular Java IDEs (Eclipse, NetBeans 4.1).
But my friends/fellows have other opinion... Is somewhere an independent feature comparison of Java IDE including IDEA, Eclipse, NetBeans 4.1.

Thanks

I don't believe there is any complete and realistic comparison out there
(at least publicly). This is something we will be working on very soon,
especially to compare with Eclipse.

My stock response is that IDEA is the best tool in most cases for
professional Java programmers who care about productivity. But that's
not exactly an objective comparison.

Collegues near to me working with Eclipse as usual use it like 'Notepad',
becouse 'Eclipse have cool editor, IDEA sucks'. And use IDEA for all other,
including debug and JSP. So, i think, words about productivity can be 'objective'
trully.
Only swing developers can use Eclipse without IDEA, but one of them already
said to me 'ok, your IDE have more powerfull editor, realy. But in other
features (not said with one) IDEA suck'. After this, i can concluse that
IDEA realy have the best Editor in all existing IDEs and it really a 'smart
productivity IDE for developers, who can develop with pleasure'.

Thanks!

I only use Eclipse for Swing. I really wish IntelliJ had something like the Visual Editor Project. Other than that, I love IntelliJ. Can't live without it :)

Never seen VEP so can't comment directly, but have you checked out
IntelliJ's GUI designer? It does things different, but seems some
people like it...

Yes, I was very excited when it first came out. The main problem I have with it is that it's difficult to work with it on a team. Difficult if the other developers aren't using IntelliJ.
