Auto-completion popup in plain text files

Hello Mark,

Right now this isn't configurable per file type, and I don't think we'll
add the general possibility to configure it for any file type. However, making
it possible to disable the completion specifically for plain text files sounds
like a good idea to me, worthy of a YouTrack issue.

IntelliJ IDEA IC 102.216.

Is there a way to prevent the auto-completion popup by file type?  I'd
like to prevent it appearing in plain text files (I find it
distracting and haven't seen it make particularly helpful suggestions)
but keep it for code-related file types.

I didn't spot anything relevent in the settings and wasn't successful
searching the online help system.
