Use UI Designer for GWT?
Hi,
Is there something like http://www.instantiations.com/gwtdesigner/ for IntelliJ?
And if not, would it be possible to add this GWT functionality to the IntelliJ UI Designer?
This would give me a reason to convince our company to move to IntelliJ.

Hello jill,
We do not currently have any plans to develop a WYSIWYG designer for GWT
(and if we do decide to develop one eventually, most likely it will not be
based on our Swing UI designer).

I see, thank you for the prompt reply.
Do you know of any intellij plugins that do / plan to do that?
Or a standalone GWT UI designer that could be hooked to IntelliJ without having to install and run a full copy of Eclipse at the same time?
Thanks,
J
Based on data from indeed.com , the number of GWT jobs are comparable to Groovy. If you add GWT and 'Google Web Toolkit' then the GWT job market is about double.
There are many web frameworks and many JVM languages, and resources are limited, However, I personally don't want to split my development between two IDEs.
Any hope of a GWT plugin ?
I wouldn't expect it to be free since it would require JetBrains to develop out of your usual area of expertise.

I take the lack of a response as a NO.

it's been a year since my last post.. is there any GWT user interface designer that Intellij supports as a plugin by now? Are there plans for one? We are trying to decide between using Eclipse and Intellij and that is IntelliJ's weak point (for us, obviously).
Thank you,
Jill
Hello jill,
We aren't aware of any third-party plugin that could be used for visual UI
design of GWT applications, and we do not currently have any plans to develop
support for that internally.

Please let us know if the situation changes.
We are working in Eclipse now and would really love to migrate to IntelliJ and the lack of a GWT GUI designer is holding us back.
Thank you,
J
A long time since the last post. I would just like to throw in my request for one of these as well. Intellij, by my standards, is by far more productive and less cumberson Eclipse-based IDE's...would love to be able to use it for designing the GWT interfaces.
