Idea 10 doesn't flag compilation problems

I've recently upgraded from Idea 9 to 100.0.1, and I'm finding that Idea 10 doesn't automatically flag Java compilation problems. That is, I can enter "sknhslkjg2454375&^%*&%" in the middle of a class, and there's no visual indication that anything is wrong. When I make the project Idea picks up the error and tells me about it in the messages panel, but it would expect to find out that I've made an error sooner. Immediately in fact. What might I have done wrong? Or was this an intentional change made in version 10? - please tell me it's not true.

Try invalidating your caches. (File | Invalidate Cache) then restart IDEA. Something might have gotten corrupt in the project's indexes. (It happens on rare occasions, but is a little more common when upgrading a major version.) I suspect that will solve the problem. If it does not, then there is likely something amiss with the project settings or the inspection settings. Let us know and we can help you track it down.
