3177 Screen Updates

I dont know what you (Jetbrains) did to 3177, but there's some really funky screen updating going on. The cursor gets lost for seconds at a time, it takes seconds to update the screen, and if I have more than 1 project open (multiple IDEA windows) at the same time, sometimes IDEA is switching focus (bringing one project on top of the other) between the projects multiple times when performing some screen refresh/update - although some times it does this, I dont see a reason why it would need to be updating.

This is a signficant regression over 3144.

A particular reproducible scenario would help to fix this greatly. I'm not
seen such a problems. Anyone else do?

Ill see what I can reliably reproduce.

On a related note - do any of you use IDEA on Linux while developing/testing?

These focus/lost focus issues are extremely apparent if you use IDEA for even basic development.

The menu navigation slow down issue also kicks in over time - this is totally reproducible - use IDEA for a few hours. I have to restart it every few hours just to get the menu speed back up to "normal" otherwise navigating the menus can take upwards of 10s for each submenu to appear.

Yes we do. Two of us currently develop IDEA under Linux full time.

What flavour of Linux & kernel version?
How long do you leave IDEA running? If you kill it every hour or so, you wont see some of these issues (specifically the menu navigation speed issue)

We are running RedHat 9 here with a 2.4.2x kernel.
Gnome/Bluecurve desktop. We commonly have more than 1 IDEA frame open at a time (since IDEA doesnt support the concept of multiple projects open - or navigable in one frame)

The focus issues happen everywhere (popup a few boxes/searches/ - ctrl-f12 is a common failure point).

Im working on reliably reproducing the funky screen refresh.
