New Inspection / Highlight properties editor

I really miss having the level displayed on the right hand side of the tree view on a per node basis.

Now in order to see what any particular setting is set at, I have to click on each individual node in turn.

Could you please add the level back to the right hand side of the tree view?

+1. While you're at it, make the batch inspection tool aware of error/warning status, and report them separately.

Is that true you really care about what severity certain inspection has?
Or you just need the list of the things that are turned on?

Sadly, there are too few projects out there which will come anywhere near passing a rigorous IDEA+IG inspection regime. It's not atypical for even a mid-size project developed without static analysis tools to return thousands of errors from a complete inspection run. (The largest I've heard of was a two-hundred class project that returned 90,000 errors on a fairly liberal profile. From all reports, it was written by chimps.) Given that, yes, it really would be handy if the batch inspection tool had the same sort of severity classification that the on-line tool does, and allowed sorting and filtering results by severity. No need for the 1000 really critical issues found to get swamped by the 89,000 non-dangerous instances of bad code hygiene. It would be handier if there were 3-5 severity levels rather than 2, but I hear that's supposed to be taken care of.

Looking over the 3177 API, it looks like inspection authors get to determine both whether their inspections are enabled by default, and what level to report them at by default. If you're putting in the effort to expand your severity handling like this, making the batch tool understand severity seems like a big win for a small investment.

Very gifted chimps, nontheless... I had managers that would never be
able to get that far :)

that would be very good Maxim, I could set the level to the highest
first, and work on those issues, then bring it down a notch, it helps
filter out benine stuff from the heavy duty 'what were you thinking'
code.
