How could page be updated to server automatically ?

Can idea update the latest files like jsp, htm to local server when the file is  edited , like myeclipse does.

Found it's inconvenient to update the file manually. thanks.

When you compile files are copied to exploded dir.
Is it what you mean?

Or you mean copy them by ftp? Then you can use 'Remote host access' plugin.

The first sentence is what I mean. I want the edited files into the deployment dir in tomcat automatically. Am I clear?

no, you're not clear
because the answer depends on your configuration

some guys start tomcat from idea and some guys use separate tomcat
some guys use deploying mechanism of 'exploded directory' and some guys use mechanism of .war files
some guys use tomcat on localhost and some guys use tomcat on different box (e.g. IDEA is on windows and tomcat is on Linux)

anyway
did you try my first answer? i mean 'hit compile buton'?

I surely deploy the web from idea in exploded way.

Yes, right clicking  'package the file' can do that, but since idea support auto-saving file , why not update automatically. Or in another way , is there a way to make the deployed path pointed to the current editing path so that it's sensitive to the file change.

http://code.google.com/p/idea-autopackage/

take a look at second screen
it's idea autopackaging feature
if it doesn't work -> try plugin

plus there is another plugin which will build project on any file save
http://plugins.intellij.net/plugin/?idea&id=3822

Hi Wi Wi:

I tried the plugin, but seems it's not compatible with  idea 9.03 ,even the latest edition plugin

IDEA doesn't update changed files automatically on server because this process may took long time or (if you changed a java class) fails with an error.
However IDEA has option in a run configuration settings to automatically update changed resources (html, jsp, js files etc) on frame deactivation. If
you want update changed classes you can use 'Update Running Application' action (Ctrl+F10).

I surely deploy the web from idea in exploded way.
