Tomcat integration - when / how does IntelliJ update class files when source has changed?

Hello,

I've integrated IDEA with tomcat 6 and have created a run / debug configuration and set my war project as the deployed artifact for the configuration.  I have selected "Update Classes and Resources" in the Perform on 'Update' action in the run configuration.

When the server is running I can debug the code however whenever I change some java source the new code is never redeployed to the server.

I have tried all sorts of settings in the 'Perform on 'Update action' box (i.e. redeploy, restart server) and none of them seem to have any affect.

The only way I can get tomcat to run my new code is to stop and start the server manually.  This is annoying as eclipse easily handles the hot deploy of the new classes and I though that IDEA was supposed to be better than eclipse?

Any help here would be most appreciated!

Thanks,
Bryan

In order to update your code you need to invoke 'Update Application' action (Ctrl+F10).
