can someone help with using any of the maven plugins available?

I'm stumped on how to use get IDEA to work with maven. I'm not the main developer here that uses maven so I don't know much about it. I can get my ui module built ok without it but it's a pain in the butt since I have to find all the jars in my local repository (vs a typical WEB-INF/lib). I've tried using this plug http://maven.apache.org/reference/plugins/idea/goals.html#idea:idea first and it builds the prj files for me after running "maven idea" and when I open up the project file it made the whole directory structure is there but all the java files have a red slash through the 'j' icon next to them and its as if they aren't even java files.

I've looked at this plugin also http://www.intellij.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/MavenPlugin but does it only work with aurora? I tried to follow the instructions and use it with 4.5 but I didn't see how to use it to build any project based off of maven project files?

Thanks for any help.

Hello Rick,

I'm stumped on how to use get IDEA to work with maven. I'm not the
main developer here that uses maven so I don't know much about it. I
can get my ui module built ok without it but it's a pain in the butt
since I have to find all the jars in my local repository (vs a typical
WEB-INF/lib). I've tried using this plug
http://maven.apache.org/reference/plugins/idea/goals.html#idea:idea
first and it builds the prj files for me after running "maven idea"
and when I open up the project file it made the whole directory
structure is there but all the java files have a red slash through the
'j' icon next to them and its as if they aren't even java files.

dont know why this is so... but usually the generated project files are ok for me ..

I've looked at this plugin also
http://www.intellij.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/MavenPlugin but does it
only work with aurora? I tried to follow the instructions and use it
with 4.5 but I didn't see how to use it to build any project based off
of maven project files?

i updated the plugin a little bit ...
the most important thing is, that you must first install a small plugin for maven before you start the intellij plugin.
a updated the documentation in the intellij wiki too .. new features include something like a pom-intellij synchronization.

please tell me if you get it to work .. im developing it with the newest available eap builds ...
