Specify user for SSH and GIT

This may be a simpleton issue ;) I am wondering if there is a way to specify a user for SSH access when using git over SSH?

The way to specify the SSH user is the same as for the command line git. You could specify it in ssh url like ssh://user@host/dir or just user@host:dir. You could check if the URL will be accepted by the git using "git ls-remote url" command.

Note that some git servers like gitosis use the single server user "git" for all logical git users and use key pair to identify the logical user. Others (like sourceforge.net) do require an actual user to be specified in the URL.
