Error message with new installation
I have just downloaded the community edition 9.0.2 but when I try to create a new project I get the following error:
Could not save application settings: com.intellij.openapi.components.StateStorage$StateStorageException: java.io.IOException: /Network/Servers/server.kennedy-dyson.com/Volumes/Data/Users/pdd/Library/Preferences/IntelliJIdea90CE/options not found
Is there anything that I can do to resolve this issue?
I am running the software on Mac OS 10.5.8
Many thanks
Paul

It is highly recommended to not store any IntelliJ IDEA specific data in symbolically linked folders. So, you need to change "idea.config.path", "idea.system.path" and "idea.plugins.path" (in IDEA_APP/Contents/Info.plist) to point to existing folders.
Thank you for taking the time to try and help me.
I don't have a folder named IDEA_APP/Contents/ with a file named Info.plist in it.
I don't understand your point about symbolically linked folders. All I have done so far is installed a clean edition of the software and tried to create a new project. I am new to the program so maybe I am doing something wrong. Upon creating a new project, the screen which says "Please review libraries found..." does not show any libraries.
Is the problem I am having caused by an installation error?
Many thanks
Paul
