Nice new pallada icon

I like the new slick, modern pallada icon. Of course I have only seen the
small version of it....

I would really love it if you replaced the older clunky idea.ico with a
shiny, new 32x32 pallada icon. :)

This new one seems even worse than the one before. The white background makes it look like it was put together in a hurry, using ms paint. Really ugly on a grey taskbar.

The JI in the about dialog doesn't look that bad, maybe they should try an icon with dark background and white/light coloured letters. That's what the circled IJ had, and I don't remember people complaining about the way it looked. But maybe it was too long ago... :)

Just my 2c,
Andrei

I made a small adjustment to the icon. Now IMHO it doesn't stand out so much. I suppose the change won't be noticeable while watching the image in a browser, so you should replace the icon in icons.jar and have a look.

Personally,I think it looks a little weird, I don't understand what its supposed to be? Characters? the first bit looks almost like a 'J' and the second like an 'I' which doesnt make sense. I can understand JB or IJ but JI? needs work imho.

I was thinking that maybe the orange dot is the dot of an i which is
somehow contained in the tail of the j, so overall you have iJI ... bit
of a long shot though ;)

Heh, good try!

continuing along with my thoughts the white background looks weird too, especially in the task switcher in windows xp.

Or Java IDEA?

The new icon looks worse imo. When I first saw it, I said "Huh?". I don't get what is it supposed to be, "J I" ?

Also, I agree the white background is ugly in windows xp.(See screenshot)

Put a black / dark blue border around the white background and it'll look just fine, it just needs something to distinguish it from the taskbar and a border should do the trick.

Yep, a buttonized shape (convexed square with border and rounded corners) will help.

It needs to be a transparant background, it stands out and looks odd on
my toolbar/quicklaunch bar :)

The new Mac version of this icon is as good an idea app icon I've seen.
Feels like a Mac, looks like a Mac icon, is transparent, and while I still
think it's a bit too big, it's not odd like the previous one. Looks like
someone at JB learned how to make proper Mac icons :)

Thanks

Oh, so that's why it looks so weird in windows. ;)
