Support for ANT 1.6

ANT 1.6 is in beta2 right now. Is it going to be supported by next release of IDEA?

Click on the link for the list of changes.

http://cvs.apache.org/dist/ant/v1.6beta2/

Also, I would to be able to switch between different ANT versions for different projects, similar to how we can select different JDK per project. Is there a technical reason this can't be done?

I hope you guys can sneak this one in before the next release (assuming of course that Ant is out of beta). The new import task in 1.6 will really simplify our build process.

Btw, is there a way in 4.0 to specify which ANT to use? ANT_HOME? whatever?

Ant 1.6 will not be supported in Aurora. The problem is in new ant jar
structure it makes too hard to support both 1.5 and 1.6 (and we have to
support released version)

Ant 1.6 went final on December 18. Does that change anything?

No, not in 4.0. But we are planning to support Ant 1.6 in next minor
version.
