Visual / Operational problems with Mac OS X

I am running the latest release (1151) and using the jvm parameter:

-Dapple.laf.useScreenMenuBar=true

to allow popup menus to stay visible.

However, when I do this then the Option-Alt-J command to wrap a word in XML with a tag does not work (taking the above parameter out make it work again).

The symptoms are strange -- the skeletons for the surrounding tags are place in the file and the cursor (red) is inserted in the middle of the first tag. However, no about of typing makes anything appear. I must click the mouse at the red insertion point to then enter the tag name.

So -- some bugs are fixed with the JVM parameter and some are introduced.

It seems that the development team needs to determine if using the above JVM parameter is generally beneficial or not and fix the bugs that then appear.

Is there a recommendation about using the parameter so that I can report the "right" bugs?

There were some severe problems with sreen menu bar in the last couple
of releases (like keyboard shortcuts cease working after some time).
These problems didn't seem to be easily solvable from what I saw on the
java-dev mailing list. I even doubt that they will be solved for 4.0 at
all. But maybe someone from Jetbrains can comment on that? Maxim is the
one that has the Mac that everyone is jealous about?

Is there anybody out there that sees something like

It is reproducable for me and a real show stopper.

Please do not use this option. Some IDEA actions won't work or will work
wrong in unpredictable way due to some hacky way Apple posts events to event
queue using system menu.

I've just got the same couple of minutes ago. Still wonder what may cause it
and what could be done there.

At least I am not the only one with that problem ;)

Mabe I can send you my project or maybe I can come up with a small test
project where the problem also occurs? Would that help? Although I
wouldn't even know where and how to start debugging that one ;)

Okay, I will run and test >without< the JVM parameter.

That means the popup menus do not remain visible (such as the about box or the Code ... Generate popup) after the first time they are displayed.
