Has anyone successfully gotten generics working with build 1144 on OSX java 1.4.2?

Has anyone successfully gotten generics working with idea 4.0 build 1144? When I attempt to compile with generics turned on the compiler fails with a NPE whether I have used generic syntax or not. The failure is in the compiler not in my code. If I turn generics off everything compiles fine as long as I have not used generic syntax. I used Idea's wizard to setup generics and from what i can tell it seems to be configured properly. I am running 10.3.2 java build build 1.4.2_03-117.1.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was under the impression that you had to compile with JDK 1.5 to use generics?

Yes, but there is a prototype compile and set of classes available that should work with the current build of Idea. In fact there is a menu option under tools to enable this. The classes produced should run under 1.4.2.
