Next EAP cycle - name suggestions ?

IDEA v4.0 seems to be closing on us so I was thinking about the name for the next EAP cycle. How about "Avalon" ? It also starts with "A", although not taken from the Greek methology but a name of the island somewhere. Seems cute to me ..

I say they have fun with the name and name it something like:

Banana

IntelliJ IDEA 5.0 (Banana)

:)

As in eating, or burning donuts with your car, where you go skidding the
tires because you're driving so fast, but that would be the plural
version of it... burning donuts.

I like it.
Especially at the end of the EAP, where we would all be waiting for the
Banana release.

In the US, the name Miranda is most strongly associated with one's "Miranda rights," the rights read to a criminal when he is arrested. The name Miranda reminds me of that more than anything else, so I think it might not be a good name for the next EAP.

Well, you could see it the opposite way :
Even the worse code is entitled to the best refactoring.
Thats its - the code - IDEA rights

So, when meeting bad code, you would read it its IDEA rights.
Now, we just need to write them.

You have the right to refactor
Anything you refactor can be used against you in your code and calls
You have the right to have IDEA present now and during any future
refactorings
If you cannot afford and IDEA license, one will be appointed to you,
free of charge, during EAP, if you wish.

Miranda rights in the US are a good thing. But I guess being arrested in the first place is the negative part. And we certainly don't want to associate work on IDEA with any kind of arrested development.

I think hunger-strikes are not too far away from arrests ;)

haha Arrested Development = Hunger Strike... hahaha COOL!

We're getting arrested for having it too easy while using IDEA, I think
it's a good thing to be arrested for.

Adonis would be male for a change.
but it stands more for beauty - than for functionality ;)

What about Anubis?
But I'm also not sure what the god of the dead
would mean for an IDE ...
But "protecting the mummy from evil forces" sounds good -
Replace 'mummy' with 'software project in crisis' ;)

Well I guess it sounds a bit to morbid...

happy new year!

That's nice. Especially as software and bananas are similar. They are

I propose "Sophia".

It means "wisdom" or "knowledge". Considering Idea has made it to V5, the guys seem to know what they are doing :).
